I came across these tweets which
were shared with an intended pun but actually is a bitter reality check and an
eye opener. <b>These just reiterate that Human Resources have been more of
treating Humans as resources. </b>In the fast paced competitive work place before
we even realized Human got dropped somewhere midway and hence people became
numeric assets good enough to be shown on dashboards. Numbers good enough to be
deleted or added as per market climate.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
Mostly organizations in urgency
to increase the productivity try to optimize their bottom line which in turn
results in aggressive target settings for the employees to produce desired
results. <b>As much as the top line is important ignoring employee wellness and a
stress free environment is what should not be ignored either.</b> These tweets
portray the outcome based approach or behavior pertaining to most of the
startup and SME where understanding human aspects still looks to be far cry.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
My intention is not to counter
the organization expectation but only if <b>humans are treated as beings and not
machines, as people and not just resources, as family not just assets, growth
is inevitable.</b></div>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"><em>“Mumma, I want that stick”, Medhansh pointed towards a piece

him. </em></span></div>

<span style="font-family: Calibri;"><em>“Can I have that big one please?” He dropped the earlier one

<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"><em>As we moved couple of steps more, his desire for a next one

mins he picked up 6 to 7 sticks each bigger than the other one. I kept mute and
just kept watching the gleam in his eyes every time he found a new BIG stick
and it hardly took him time to let go the one he just picked a minute back till
such time I saw him aiming for small branch of a tree. Reading his thoughts I
simply said <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>,”NO, that’s too big for you”.
And as expected he started his tantrums because a NO wasn’t expected. I didn’t rub
it much and let him do what he wanted and within couple of minutes he realized why
I was saying NO. Frustrated by his inability to handle a branch, two times his
own size, he started crying. Well….</em></span></div>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
</div>
<em>
</em><span style="font-family: Calibri;">We all have little Medhansh in us, who keeps demanding more,
whose desire is to touch and have all for himself and that too in the shortest
span. Only difference is Medhansh is just three year old but the same tendency
in a 30 year old…imagine how you would set it straight. </span><br />
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">As a Human Resource manager I see people changing jobs for<strong>
more salary, without even consuming the past job they move to next one.</strong> The
change here is referred as better prospects by many. It’s not usual to find
people with a set frequency in terms to job changes. Such people start looking
out as soon as they near the threshold point in a company. But what happens in
reality is that by the time you make four such changes you lose the hold on the
subject <u>because your vision was always short term, because quitting was your
first option, because you thought the grass is greener on the other side</u> .</span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">Job change is not bad and I honestly believe that change
adds value and variety but you should make sure you have gathered enough
knowledge in your current profile before you move to next. <u>Cracking interview
is just step one and mostly we do lot more than our Job Description suggests.
Going too quickly for a larger pie might excite you but its more about
sustaining the expectations which it brings with the size.</u> Also many times the
carrot is a fancy designation with hardly any real work and you can trust me
for meeting many such people who regretted such hasty decisions </span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">Think about it when you feel edgy about changing your job.
Is it a right time for you to move? Have you done enough here? Have you grown
enough to aim for a jump? Would waiting for a while fetch you more strength to
face the challenges of new profile.</span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"><em>Medhansh with time will learn <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>as to when is the right time to handle the big
stick but until then he should value and enjoy what he has and try to focus on
his current possessions so tomorrow he doesn’t regret but enjoy the BIG stick!!</em></span></div>

<div style="text-align: center;">

</em><span style="font-family: Calibri;"></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"></span> </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"></span> </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">This is what I thought when I first came across the term
<strong>VUCA</strong>!!</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">Isn’t the term itself is quite intriguing.I wanted to know
more about it than just its meaning, Volatile – Uncertain -Complex –Ambiguous.
Though I am sure it explains now what it means. To me it sounds like ,”Don’t
mess, I can be really crazy”. So as I became more interested about exploring <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>VUCA, happened to come across NHRD Mumbai
conference which had organized a Panel discussion on the said topic with
dignitaries like Dr. Gopal Mahapatra , CLO – RPG Enterprises , Ms. Rani Desai,
Chief People Officer – Deloitte India, Mr. Lakshmanan MT – Head Talent Mgmt –
L&T Ltd. </span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">Must say the insights really made me feel the VUCA is a reality
of everyday. I realized that VUCA has been there since the humanity existed ,
though we might have not called it by that name. Doesn’t our life gets us in
situations which we never predicted, which have been beyond our control. It’s
an environment which can be confusing and complicated, an event which can turn
things topsy turvy and we with our best laid plans can’t even resist the
change. </span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">So though I felt more than debating about whether VUCA is a
myth of reality , we should rather try to figure out the way to deal with it.
For even if we deny the existence the change would still happen, so why fret
rather deal with a grace. Adding to the thoughts shared by the panel where one
of them quoted that India specifically has been one of the most adapted
countries in terms of changes, after all those invasions and attacks from the
historical times Indian are attuned to handle VUCA environment . Possibly that
could be a reason why many Indians don’t feel that it even exists for its so
much part of our normal lives. Morever it’s not a challenge but an opportunity
to stand out and carve your own way. Now relating it closely to my subject,
Human Resources Management here are some workspace events quoted by the
brilliant panel to make it more relevant to us.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt; text-align: justify;">
<i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">Layoffs and Pink slips
are one of the most terrible times of conflict in a Human Resource professional’s
life cycle. It takes me back to 2008 and 2009 when people dreaded to come
office as it could be there last working day.<o:p></o:p></span></i></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt; text-align: justify;">
<i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">Talent Acquisition not
matter how fancy the term sounds ask the pain of ‘back outs’ from a Hiring
Manager who is uncertain even after the prospective candidates joins the
organization.<o:p></o:p></span></i></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt; text-align: justify;">
<i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">What happens during
the Mergers and Acquisitions? How to deal with people issues when the situation
itself is not clear? Imagine the confused state scenario where the HR manager
still has to be grounded and take it in the best stride.<o:p></o:p></span></i></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">Life is all about exploring more and stretching your
boundaries , so what goes hand in hand are the <i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;">Mistakes</i>. I wonder If I would have ever achieved all I have today
had it not been my mistakes.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">My on the job journey off course had its own share of goof
ups and wrong choices. But then what came out definitely turned me into a
better professional. However as they say why ‘Reinvent the Wheel’ here is what
you can surely take your ‘NOT TO DO’ lessons</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">Whether its startup or established brand, we all have our
favorite hiring sources and likewise I had a special affinity to employee
referrals. Courtesy our lucrative referrals policy never had dearth of profiles
and off course it all seemed very rosy initially. But reality stuck when we
started having group exits and office politics shaped up the bad way. I
realized that the referrals resulted in favoritism and pre conceived
expectation. <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;">So the miss was of not exploring wider variety but limiting the choice
by focusing more on one source or channel of hiring</i></b></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"><b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;">Interview panel plays a very important role in the recruitment cycle. You
can’t hire best if you don’t have the best one to do the cherry picking
exercise</i></b>. However many times we end up hiring wrong people only because
we ourselves are not sure about whom to hire. It’s true that interviewing is a
skill and that judging in couple of interactions whether the candidate will fit
the bill or not, can be an uphill task. So only where a panel should have a
capacity to evaluate technically and also maturity to foresee the cultural
fitment and personality alignment within the team will be able to identify the
right talent. </span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-HECmRNQ8SIU/VCFLN30rcCI/AAAAAAAAAIw/VBMsB_OSKEw/s1600/hir.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-HECmRNQ8SIU/VCFLN30rcCI/AAAAAAAAAIw/VBMsB_OSKEw/s1600/hir.jpg" /></a></span></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"><b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">Hire always with open
mind and when I say that my intension is towards diversity</b>. Mostly we
assume a particular section of population only would be a right match for a
profile. However it is the result of our stereotypes, which we keep carrying
irrationally. And at times like this when we get to re visit it’s important
that we let our options always open towards the various talent segments. Not
only would this bring more variety of thoughts but also give a good mix of
population which ultimately will contribute towards healthy environment and
culture.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"><b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;">Let numbers so talking. The best way to measure hiring transactions is
to follow a well structured dashboard. </i></b>A well defined TAT for each
recruitment destination will surely help to track the process and its closure
in the estimated time frame. Mostly due to unavailability of required data or a
measurable data we keep procrastinating important decisions which can help
close position in a much faster speed.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"><b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;">Selling is part of recruiting but don’t rub it too much.</i></b> Mostly
in the heed to hire the brightest and not to lose to the competitors recruiters
try hard to convince the candidate. However this when can make the candidate
join but any overselling can result in a false assumption or a promise can be
fatal for the entire hiring process. A recruiter has to come out of the myopic
vision and make sure to create a pull story to be attractive enough but not
misguiding.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">Here is how I learned with my own experiences and the
journey of exploring the domain is still on. Do share your experiences in the
comments so I can too learn from your mistakes </span><span style="font-family: Wingdings; mso-ascii-font-family: Calibri; mso-char-type: symbol; mso-hansi-font-family: Calibri; mso-symbol-font-family: Wingdings;"><span style="mso-char-type: symbol; mso-symbol-font-family: Wingdings;">J</span></span></div>

<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">It all started with some colorful bean bags and a cup of
tea. A perfect setting for some interesting conversations. Isn’t<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>it?</span><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-YB7vO0VHlL4/VAQFDJj62uI/AAAAAAAAAIA/tJjP-yCTkNE/s1600/people%2Bmatters.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-YB7vO0VHlL4/VAQFDJj62uI/AAAAAAAAAIA/tJjP-yCTkNE/s1600/people%2Bmatters.jpg" height="212" width="320" /></a></span></div>
<br /></div>
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">I sipped that perfectly brewed cup of tea and was amazed to
see some savvy product demos around me with a perfect blend of HR need and
Technology support. This was the <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span><strong><em>‘Unconference’</em></strong> area at the <strong><em>Tech HR hosted by
People Matters</em></strong>, where we were waiting for one <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>of the most awaited session with <strong><em>Social Media
guru, Gautam Ghosh</em></strong>. Have been following Gautam Ghosh on twitter for long and
this was my first experience to have live interaction with him. Unconference as
the word suggests was an informal setting for some direct interactions with the
speakers and that definitely made all the more interesting . What an apt place
to learn from the experiences of some aspiring entrepreneurs and HR stalwarts.</span><br />
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">Gautam opened his discussion with quizzing people a bit on
social media and for once I had to stop tweeting and start being more attentive
towards it. I of course didn’t wanted to be caught off guard and this is what I
could capture from his thoughts on “How to make Social Media Identity”</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-LQe0gyNe9Qk/VAQFmftmXaI/AAAAAAAAAII/4hYPnJOzGf4/s1600/pp%2Bgg.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-LQe0gyNe9Qk/VAQFmftmXaI/AAAAAAAAAII/4hYPnJOzGf4/s1600/pp%2Bgg.jpg" height="212" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"><strong>“Twitter makes you celebrity”</strong> : Yes imagine the fun of
having 1k+ followers and flaunting the same. Twitter not just made this
possible but also allows reaching the unreachable. Where physical media would
simply add to the odds this one made it quick and unbelievably smooth and much
higher on connectivity.</span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"><strong>“Social Media is the new customer care”</strong>: He shared an
anecdote about how a popular telecom player sorted out a pending issue in
record time with just a simple ‘tweety complain’. Social media accessibility
has given an edge to customer and this for sure has been quite a trend setter. Thanks
to the power of information speed that no one can be taken for granted. Not
only does it affect the employer branding but also positions the organization
differently. What probably couple of calls or an email could not do, now the
solution is just a tweet away. Social Media is making organizations<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>walk on tight rope whether to lose one
customer or stop many others from even trying their products.</span></div>
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"><strong>“It’s a Personal learning Management system”</strong>: Social Media
has an immense potential for self learning. It’s about learning from your own
fraternity and imbibing knowledge for good. Learning can be through medium like
webinars, twitter chats, Facebook groups, and subject matter blogs. Infact he
mentioned how MOOCs have added a new dimension to social learning and now
global learning is just part of daily dose.</span><br />
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"><strong>“Use Google news for better”</strong>: Specific to twitter it’s all
about give and take. Learning is incomplete without sharing and here is
Gautam’s quick tip. Subscribe Google news and share the relevant topics with
the followers. Though it can be very overwhelming but using hoot suite helps lots
in managing time yet connecting with the best.</span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">There was much more which he discussed like how <em>blogging
gives a voice and platform to an introvert personality and how everyone has his
own choice towards different social media</em>. I could have not agreed more on all
what he said and coming from him made so much more sense. I am thankful to
people matters to give me an opportunity to connect with some very interesting
people and learn about how Technology has impacted the age old HR domain.</span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">We all look forward
to see a future where people management is more tech savvy without losing the
real Human!!</span></div>

<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;">15th August 2014
marked India’s 68th Independence and our family of three was all set
to tune in to Mr. Narendra Modi’s first Independence Day speech. Not to mention
the man has his own charisma and has his own carrot and stick style while he
shared his economic agenda with the country. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;">No No…this post is not about
Mr. Modi nor even close to our country’s patriotic spirit but it’s about what made
him scrap age old ‘Planning Commission’ which for sure was quite relevant at
its inception but then 64 years were enough to make it look age old. And what is
interesting that even our organizations operate similarly, with archived
policies and procedures in this era when Gen Y is entering the workplace.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt; text-align: justify;">
<i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;"><span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;">So
what goes wrong while Human Resources still tries to put its best foot forward
while creating the best of their policies.<o:p></o:p></span></i></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;">Sadly our policy are made
with <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">intension to facilitate changes but
mostly becomes road blocks in the overall scenario</b>. It’s important to keep
the objective well defined and should be achievable rather than becoming just another
HR thing. After all it’s the people whom you want to touch without losing the
human touch.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;">Change is good. <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">A timly and proactive audit of what needs
to be changed in policies will help avoid lot of complications later</b>. So
why wait for a sexual harassment case to come up before creating a committee to
handle such scenarios. Mostly we ignore the initial signals or rather wait for
the stage when there is no other better option but then this can be one
decision making weakness which can raise unnecessary grievances.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;">Keep It Simple!! And that
would make its more sorted. <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">Creating
policies which are confusing or verbose only irks the employees who are looking for
solutions and not documentation</b>. It’s the job of Human Resources to refer
Laws and Compliances and created user friendly and crisp policies which are
self explanatory and non debatable.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;">Are you talking enough? <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">Well creating a policy is just one part of
it but communicating the same to make it more effective plays indeed an
important role</b>. Hence care should be taken to release versions even with
the most minute changes and same to be communicated keeping employee confidence
in the system high.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%; mso-ansi-language: EN-US; mso-bidi-language: AR-SA; mso-fareast-font-family: Calibri; mso-fareast-language: EN-US;">I am sure Mr. Modi had a far larger thought behind
bringing new soul to the old body but he for sure motivated me enough for this
take on our age old Policy Frameworks. For sure as the organizations grow so
would the country and tha</span></div>

the importance of a TEAM in any game. Again at any point this doesn’t mean
Argentina didn’t do justice but it’s only the best one which makes it to the

<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"><strong><em> "Hey, Watsapp?”</em></strong></span><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-pgIPDNk2oKk/U53k_wC2zkI/AAAAAAAAAG0/0GonuqKlxQ0/s1600/images22.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-pgIPDNk2oKk/U53k_wC2zkI/AAAAAAAAAG0/0GonuqKlxQ0/s1600/images22.jpg" height="400" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">Yes that’s what it is for most of us, helps us greet and
connect with a selective group of people. A quite a popular smart phone app
and which also makes me part of so many of the groups already. Now the big
question around all these groups is about the <i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;">Engagement</i>. When any new group is formed there is a sudden burst of
adrenaline and members are too excited to be part of the same. Admin keeps
adding new people and the interaction seems to pick up well but then gradually
the initial euphoria fizzles out. And then eventually all the groups have
similar messages inspired by Politics, Sports , Inspirational Quotes, Jokes or
puzzles etc.</span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">And that’s how <i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;">‘Once
upon a time there was lively group’</i> becomes ‘<i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;">And they were happy ever after forwarding messages</i>’. So as I
pointed earlier the catch lies in engaging the audience or the group members so
let’s see how that can be done.</span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"><b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;">Are you sure the group is required, </i></b>that’s an important question
to ask, if at all there is a need to form a group? Reason being it’s much
easier to form than to maintain its form! So before you actually start sending
a request it’s better to check the need and requirement yourself.</span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"><b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;">Understand the audience:</i></b> This remains a golden rule of any
social media engagement, without which we can never understand what really can
makes the group kick off. The common thread of the group can add lot of value
eg: is it a school group, a work related group , family group etc and this can
give a lot to play around the content flow.</span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">Now as we talk about the content, it’s important to <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;">maintain
the frequency which is neither too high nor too low</i></b>. Where too much of
content push can be time demanding and hence lead to exits also too less can
simply disconnect one from the cause altogether.</span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">Admin only adds name, but the <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;">onus to keep the group active and
lively lies on each of the group member</i></b>. It’s important that everyone
takes the initiative to interact and add value to the group activity. This
helps in changing the tone of the discussion which can provide much better thought
evolution and also adds variety to the entire conversation.</span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"><b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;">Let the real talk happen more than forwards</i></b>. Though inspirational
quotes and jokes can be entertaining but have to well balance with the real time
discussions. Mostly the groups are overloaded with the forwards which many
might not even read however it keeps occupying your phone memory. Now that
sometimes can be annoying too. Such scenarios can affect the group
participation to a great extend.</span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"><em>It’s human to have different preferences and even if you follow
all the rights still you would find many who would not be able to connect with
you. But then variety is the spice of life and each of us have our preffered
way to interact which might not always be the ‘Watsapp’ way!!</em></span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<o:p><span style="font-family: Calibri;"> </span></o:p></div>

<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-OmZw0-t8Zlc/U2-lWuRyKSI/AAAAAAAAAGY/Ftn4rQdc06g/s1600/hobby.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-OmZw0-t8Zlc/U2-lWuRyKSI/AAAAAAAAAGY/Ftn4rQdc06g/s1600/hobby.png" /></a></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">What? NO!! This post in not on gardening tips or walking benefits, but more than that.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">
Instead this is what I came across while I was reading one of the resumes which
had come for a job application. Interest or Hobbies infact is the most
interesting aspect which I never miss to read. It tells you a lot about the
person and helps understand a bit on the cultural fitment in the organization.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">Well many of them mostly write dozens of stuff without understanding
the impact it might make to recruiters like me. And it’s easier to make out
also such cases. But honestly though we hardly pay much attention but pursuing at
least one hobby can bring lot of changes to ones personality. Grades definitely
are important but it’s your hobby and the excellence level in it which can give
you an upper edge.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt; text-align: justify;">
<i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">You still don’t agree
then here is what which might convince you:<o:p></o:p></span></i></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"><b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">Your interests help
you connect with your inner self </b>and make you more aware about your own
emotions and reactions. This self awareness contributes towards your emotional quotient
- a must have for all living beings today.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">Hobbies help you <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">stand
out in the crowd or workplace</b>. You can identify your personality type and
thus it’s much easier to establish a connect with your peer group or even
subordinates. Mostly it gives you lot to discuss apart from just business.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"><b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">A great stress buster
tool</b>!!. In today’s scenario where stress sneaks in the kindergarten itself ,
it’s your hobby which can provide a diagrammatically opposite environment, when
in need. Helps your mind cut off from the unwanted tension and thus unwinds the
physical and mental stamina.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">You always have a <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">back
up skill to fall upon</b>. Any hobby if pursued to the extent of perfection can
become your competency and hence you need not worry about losing a job ever. You
my dear friend are gifted already.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">We all are born to do something more than our usual jobs.
Really!! <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Just that we are so occupied
with the usual than the unusual take a back seat. So go ahead explore your
childhood wardrobe if you still can’t figure out something your heart beats for
in true sense.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">I did and that’s how I am writing this </span><span style="font-family: Wingdings; mso-ascii-font-family: Calibri; mso-char-type: symbol; mso-hansi-font-family: Calibri; mso-symbol-font-family: Wingdings;"><span style="mso-char-type: symbol; mso-symbol-font-family: Wingdings;">J</span></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt; text-align: justify;">
<o:p><span style="font-family: Calibri;"> </span></o:p></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"><strong></strong></span> </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-lRfzymnNj1M/U1qfQj277MI/AAAAAAAAAGE/kHsufWNkyJc/s1600/Hi5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-lRfzymnNj1M/U1qfQj277MI/AAAAAAAAAGE/kHsufWNkyJc/s1600/Hi5.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"><strong>High Five!!</strong></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">Yes that’s the incentive my three year old loves the most
whenever he does something good. What’s more amazing, how every time I give him
a thumps up , he is excited to achieve more. </span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">That somewhere reiterates Voltaire’s thought <i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;">“Appreciation is a wonderful thing. It makes
what is excellent in others belong to us as well.”</i> It can make impossible
turn feasible and dead man walk too. Yes, that the power of words!!Understanding
this aspect of human behavior holds high importance at workplace. Mostly in
heed of process orientation we at times lose some basic rules which we learnt
as kids.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"><b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">It's never too much</b>: Many times we feel that too much appreciation might make one
overconfident and hence can reduce the effectiveness. Well that could be one
school of thought however personally I feel appreciation is highly addictive
and one would strive to always achieve more of it. As long as it is genuine and
the intention is motivate it will always go hand in hand with a feel good
factor. </span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"></span> </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"><b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">Don’t miss on the
time:</b> Appreciation which comes days after the job hardly helps. A pat on
back might sound simple but one which comes on right time gives enough motivation.
However most of the times Managers become highly competitive with expectation but
equally conservative with appreciation. If what was promised, was delivered,
then what could be harm in appreciating the attempt. </span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"></span> </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"><b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">Don’t mix the two:</b>
Giving an appreciation with an extended ‘but’ can be really a spoil sport.
Sometimes both positive and negative together can cause recency effect, where
only negative is retained. If a feedback for improvement is required then give
a time break. May be next day can be good at least till such time the one can
bask in the glory of well deserved positive. Imagine you seeing a score card
with a red line and A grades, what will impact you more?</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"><b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">Make it Public:</b>
Yes, that one thing I love and learned from my current organization, plugHR to appreciate
in public. Not to tell you how that magnifies the effect of the entire process.
It is only human to craves for social applause and no wonder why we all love
being part of this online social world.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">To sum up all let there be no regrets or explanations but
simple yet timely appreciations which can motivate people to do more and ride
more miles.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>

<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">Startup journey is full of ups and down but depends if are
you the roller coaster type, you would simple enjoy the fun. Ask any
entrepreneur more than he wonders about VC funding hiring the Talent can be nightmarish.
As obvious as it might sound but until one has the right people at the right
time any good business plan will go for a toss and probably that’s why Startups
never freeze hiring like the bigger counterparts.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-jp8GyRKeIsE/UzBTel35GAI/AAAAAAAAAFg/9oWpoJMn4jo/s1600/images2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-jp8GyRKeIsE/UzBTel35GAI/AAAAAAAAAFg/9oWpoJMn4jo/s1600/images2.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">What adds to the dynamics here is the genre of Talent which
are required or fit to survive in this kind of environment. Today you would
find many applicants trying to seek an opportunity to work for startup and
equally similar number turning down startup offers for a well established
organization. So let us get into the finer aspect for knowing whom to hire.</span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"><b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;">It’s not a 9 to 5 role</i></b>: If you come with a mindset to managing work
life balance with ‘log in’ and ‘log out’ time then you surely would find
yourself in midst of strangers. Primarily if one asks you repetitive questions
around holidays/ office time etc, might be coming from similar mindset by
virtue of his/her past experiences. However for any organization these are
important but probably a new organization which still has long way to break-even
it becomes difficult to call it a day before milestones are won over.
Surprisingly the one who love working for startups enjoys more without a clock monitoring
them; they feel more relaxed with deadlines than swipe cards. </span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"><b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;">Don’t ask for a JD</i></b>: Now being an HR professional it’s almost
like murdering my conscious before writing that. But that’s the fact, you might
share a JD at the start which would keep changing as time progresses and by the
time you are due for a performance review you might wonder about the relevance
of that JD. Working in a startup for sure makes you ‘Jack of All’ an exposure
which is nearly impossible in larger organizations simply because of the size
and the structure of the latter. A leaner organization allows you to see though
all level and have a wider perspective. It’s like a mentoring program and no
wonder lot many entrepreneurs shoot out of such enterprises. However this might
seem overwhelming for the ones who love sticking for their majors and want to
go deep down in one subject. Here boardrooms are full of strategist cum
executioners and you got to be Hands on!!</span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"><b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;">Risk is part and parcel</i></b>: Startups are intolerant!! Yes and that’s
the beauty if you are top performer they would push you to be the best or else
you might just give up. When every individual plays multiple role and together
the organization is in hurry to achieve the goals mediocre has definitely not
place. No wonder a startup always needs to hire ‘A’ performers. Ones who are
confident and don’t need much handholding instead they can kick start from day
one. Self motivated, eager to learn, explore and contribute to the success of
the organization are the ones who can live up to this journey.</span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">Apart from this there are many more traits required to win
over an entrepreneur’s heart but these could be the top three which if you are
ready then go ahead onboard the adventurous journey where your talent gets the
upper hand always!!</span></div>

stress test</u>. Resume is the first interface between recruiter and you , so
letting your two pager down will simply make your success rate zero. No matter
how competent you have been all throughout but this one milestone is of prime
importance, after which it mostly depends on your personal caliber to pull it
through up-till the offer.</span></div>
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">So here sharing some quick tips which would make you resume
and job search more effective and less frustrating:</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"><b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">Think and choose the
format</b> and not just copy one which your friend used for his last job search.
Resume is your own identity, will you let your friend go for the interview on
your behalf than why his resume should represent yours. It’s a great turn off
when candidates simply copy paste the content. Your originality should reflect
from your resume. Choosing the fonts, where to go bold and the flow of contents
play an important role on visuals of recruiter.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span></span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">As you move on content, make sure to <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">prioritize it as per the relevancy</b> and the profile which you are
aiming at. Most of times the contents are repetitive and unnecessary which consume
space and let’s not forget that two pages are more than enough for six seconds.
Loading too much information will only divert recruiter’s interest and you
would lose the battle to someone else’s resume. <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span></span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">Reading the Job description before applying can give some
pointers to <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">customize the resume</b>.
For sure it’s a cumbersome exercise but if it’s for your dream job, why would
you just let it go for some time investment. Have a generic resume with role
based customized ones will surely help your seek better opportunities. You two
pager is your way to market yourself and push your candidature to recruitment process.
Job is to make the recruiter feel that you are the one who fits the job best.</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">Make sure your <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">objective
is meaningful</b> and so it leaves an impact and with that the <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">contact details should be latest</b> and do
not miss on alternate or permanent numbers where reaching out for you is not cumbersome.
While you are hunting jobs, please take care of calling back to all missed call
and even regularly checking your emails. Who knows the last call might have
been for the one you have been waiting all this while.</span><br />
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"><b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">Keywords are lifelines</b>
for recruiters, make sure your have used them enough to add relevance to your
portfolio. Being aware of commonly used keywords for the job your are applying
will add lots of value too. Keeping a track and <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">mention of all important data on the resume</b>, e.g.: work tenure and
year of passing out will give clarity to your profile and would avoid rejection
due to unavailable data.</span></div>
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">Resume writing is art and definitely needs personal creativity
but as always when looking for a job you should not leave any stoned unturned
so let’s start with your new resume this time…</span><br />

<br />
<h2 class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt; text-align: center;">
Are you ready for a job change?</h2>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">Surprised!! <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Why did I
not ask the question which frequently bothers as every year passes by in your
current organization?</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-4lCBp9jNLq0/Unp_j__VOWI/AAAAAAAAADc/CHPtk55ns8c/s1600/tips-planning-career-change.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-4lCBp9jNLq0/Unp_j__VOWI/AAAAAAAAADc/CHPtk55ns8c/s1600/tips-planning-career-change.jpg" height="212" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">Job change is a career transition and should be handled with
great care. Many people ignore this very important aspect of how every job change
can give a different turn to ones career road map. Mostly I get call from friends
who need advise on job hunt and then I ask them my favorite question, which mostly
helps them explore the unrealized.</span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">Trust me I will be the last person against a job change,
after all I owe my job to this. But what’s important are you convinced for one.
Many times encountered people who start a hunt and then back out in mid way
leaving many questions unanswered. <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">Taking
some decisions in haste can let go great opportunities in future.<o:p></o:p></b></span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">Feeling of job being mundane is nothing unusual and they
might be haunting you every now and then. However what one need to <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">decide whether the next opportunity guarantees
you a relief for next five</b> year. Could be possible that it’s a right time
to expand your arms to some new responsibilities internally.</span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">So do you think about a job change after every appraisal as
your expectations were not met monetarily? <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Well a <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">new
opportunity might give you hike but who know if you are back to square one
again during next appraisal cycle</b>. Better focus on the feedback and see if
you hit the best paid band without changing a job.</span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">Make sure to clarify the real meaning behind ‘better
prospects’. It’s such a vague term to use however if this means about a <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">level escalation have you really given your
best shot for an internal promotion</b>. If not then why not? A job change
might give you a designation boost up but will take you more time to settle
rather it would have done internally.</span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"><b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">You boss is not less
that ‘HARI SADU’ but who knows the next one might not be a ‘Dream Manager’ too</b>.
Talk out for an internal project transfer first before your decide to move out.</span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">Honestly many of these reasons knock the HR department only
during exit interviews and some lucky ones have it during retention talks. We
might blame the HR department for not being proactive but if it’s about you
then should you not take that extra effort for evaluating your decision before
concluding for a job hunt route.</span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">Think before you leap the next time!!</span></div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">
</span><span style="font-family: Calibri; font-size: large;"><em>So you mean you work hard and party harder?</em></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><em>
</em></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri; font-size: large;"><em>But that’s not what I meant here for sure and neither am I
anyone to comment on ‘What you did last Summer? ‘ </em></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large; margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;">
<img height="401" id="il_fi" src="http://www.totalhrmanagement.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/01/Total_HR_Examines_The_Value_of_Social_Media.jpeg" style="padding-bottom: 8px; padding-right: 8px; padding-top: 8px;" width="480" /></span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri; font-size: large;">However, as I am sure you must have understood that my
reference point is your activity on much debatable social media platform. Being
active and well connected with HR pros in this space, I personally wonder what
keeps many of my #HR friends out of this awesome way to connect with the world without
boundaries.</span></div>
<span style="font-size: large;">
</span><span style="font-family: Calibri; font-size: large;">Yes, I know what’s going in your mind, that something which
many organization still consider as time killer to an extend that its banned ,
can it really add any value. So my friend, honestly it’s up to the learner curve
as to what, when, why and how will he imbibe the knowledge. My personal take
with social media is that it works for those who know how it works and it definitely
works wonders for me.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Calibri; font-size: large;"></span><br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri; font-size: large;">Human Resource is role which can easily become mundane in spite
of having lot of challenges associated with it. Reason being we let go the
transformational part for the regular transactional activities which for various
reasons are important part of an HR life cycle. So keeping yourself in sync
with the trending lines is the necessity and need of hour. Technology has changed the
workplace dynamics and the largest contributor has been social media on this
note. Here are some reasons what’s stored for you in between this hue and cry!!</span></div>
<span style="font-size: large;">
</span><span style="font-family: Calibri; font-size: large;">Currently we are working with four generations and very soon
we would have <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">Gen Y dominating our
workplace</b>. In order to understand and engage this potential talent mass what
could be a better than following their social footprints.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">
</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Calibri; font-size: large;">Another very interesting experience with <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">social media is that helps you explore the
creative side</b>. Before you start wondering on how don’t you feel sharing
your views in 140 characters is creativity or writing a blog is any less. How
about those interesting tag lines on your Facebook page or the interesting your
tube video your friend uploaded? All this is reflection of one’s creative
instincts and these are just few. This not only helps you to innovate but also
provokes your thought process, in turn makes you act differently.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">
</span><br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri; font-size: large;">Needless to say Social media is the best available <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">market place for talent hunt</b> and that
too it’s FREE!! So if cost of hiring on your dashboard is bothering you this is
for sure the solution.</span></div>
<span style="font-size: large;">
</span><br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">#HR is said to be the face of an organization and who better
can take the <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">brand to next level</b>.
Your social media presence not just talks about you but about also the organization
you are associated with. E.g. Twitter is more than enough to tell me happenings
at Yahoo India or why does one of my twitter pal loves to work for TATA. Even
better people know what I do with plugHR without me even telling then that </span><span style="font-family: Wingdings; mso-ascii-font-family: Calibri; mso-char-type: symbol; mso-hansi-font-family: Calibri; mso-symbol-font-family: Wingdings;"><span style="mso-char-type: symbol; mso-symbol-font-family: Wingdings;">J</span></span></span></div>
<span style="font-size: large;">
</span><br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri; font-size: large;">#Social networking provides a <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">platform to learn and relearn</b>. Connecting with people, following
twitter chats, following #LinkedIn group discussions, attending webinars and so
much more only to add to your knowledge which would make you better and
sharper.</span></div>
<span style="font-size: large;">
</span><br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri; font-size: large;">Ideally problem is not of the platform instead how we use
the same. Just by holding the book you can’t evaluate the content similarly
creating an account on #Facebook /LinkedIn or #Twitter but not using it
effectively will only make you wonder about <strong><em>Power of Socialmedia!!</em></strong></span></div>
<span style="font-size: large;">

<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"></span><div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"><span style="font-family: Times New Roman;">
</span></span></div>
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt; text-align: center;">
<strong><em>“What's the fun in having one more social media account?”</em></strong></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Times New Roman;">
</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt; text-align: justify;">
Yes, this was my reply to a friend who once asked me to join
him on twitter. Hardly did I know that soon I would be advocating the same
social networking platform and would be using much more than even the one who
recommended. Honestly I am in love with the tweeting bird ,more than I was with
Facebook or Orkut. Reason being it not only connects me to the entire ecosystem’s
update in just 140 units also learning has a new and a simpler meaning here?
How?</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-22EvnPMKHtg/UiYkXYDjg3I/AAAAAAAAADI/Ho315z6GlyQ/s1600/twitter.png" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="182" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-22EvnPMKHtg/UiYkXYDjg3I/AAAAAAAAADI/Ho315z6GlyQ/s200/twitter.png" width="200" /></a></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt; text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Times New Roman;">
</span><b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">Twitter has made me a
better communicator</b>!! Somebody like me who always had to take B Sheets when
others could manage their answers in just A, writing crisp yet effective has
been a challenge. Twitter just made sure that I stick to express my fullest and
still save myself from negative marking. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Times New Roman;">
</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt; text-align: justify;">
<b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">I know how it feels
to listen now</b>. Reading interesting tweets and marking favorites is a
nothing more than listening, imbibing and appreciating other person’s thought. A
skill I always desired to have and now I know what all I could have learned only
if would have let the other side talk a bit more <span style="font-family: Wingdings; mso-ascii-font-family: Calibri; mso-char-type: symbol; mso-hansi-font-family: Calibri; mso-symbol-font-family: Wingdings;"><span style="mso-char-type: symbol; mso-symbol-font-family: Wingdings;">J</span></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Times New Roman;">
</span>Another very interesting aspect is of <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">engaging a conversation</b>. So what you tweet or Re Tweet talks about
your virtual personality which can have a pull or a push effect. In order to
connect it important to add value to your follower base. Learning the tricks of
the trait from twitter, I am sure next time when I break the ice it would melt
forever!!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Times New Roman;">
</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt; text-align: justify;">
So what if I don’t upload my picture or my bio on twitter, I
still will have people following me back. <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">Assuming
without providing the entire information can just shatter all your expectations</b>.
Updated profile helps to connect with right audience and in turn generate
better traction and communication.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Times New Roman;">
</span>One of my favorite picks from twitter is that RT’s and links
go very well till it is balanced by your own personal thoughts in those 140
letters. <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">Missing on your personal views
or expression can be as bad as a leader always quoting somebody but hardly
saying anything quotable</b>.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Times New Roman;">
</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt; text-align: justify;">
These are just some of my communication lessons from twitter
and I am sure many more are on way to come. Way to go Twit Twit!!</div>
</span><br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Times New Roman;">

<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">"Ping" went my phone. I checked wondering who
might have written to me and was amazed to get a response from one of my
business associates. What was interesting about this person that he never took
more than 2 minutes to reply and this was the 10th mail conversation on the
same lines. So if you are thinking that he might not be in serious business,
sorry to let you down for him being a CEO, I am sure he has lot much to do then
me at least :)</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">So the point is not about to get in the business details of
the gentleman rather to notice how effective his email communication is. Well
if it can make me write a blog then at least I would give him 10/10. Practically
we spend half of our awake life online and this makes email communication a
major source of communication. But in spite of knowing this most of us falter
here including me.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">

test!</em></span></div>
<div dir="ltr">
</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"><span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span><b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">Let’s go back to our inbox and count on the number of unread mails</b>.
Anything more than 10 means you are welcome onboard!! Reading is the easiest
thing you can do to an email coming to your inbox. Reason being, one you would
not miss on any important information. Second those haunting unread numbers
will always be under control. Thirdly you would be not be cutting a sorry
figure of asking somebody to resend a mail.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"><b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">Out of 10 emails,
seeking your response how many do you really answer?</b> If the answer is less than
50% then you surely need to reason it further. Firstly how about inspiring
somebody like me to appreciate your prompt reply. Secondly the otherwise open
ended communication loop would have a logical end and will also avoid any
follow up emails. Thirdly writing back reassures that you have read the email
properly and your updated knowledge will only smoothen your decision making in future.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"><b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">To top all what might
be a reason to not respond on an email?</b> If time is an issues then better
manage it well, for unread mails are the most haunting troubled souls. Most of
the time we really don’t know what to write but then answering doesn’t always
mean that. Many times as an HR I am not able to respond to each and every job
applicant but honestly this only makes me lose my reputation in long run. Reason
why applicant find different channels to reach HR managers then simply sending an
email .Having an automated mails most of times does the job for a while but
still nothing can beat a personal reply. Sharing a candid feedback is most appreciated.</span></div>
<div dir="ltr">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">These are top three reasons why we should be more conscious
on using, responding and managing our inboxes. A well managed inbox will not
just keep you well informed infact will induce others to respond you back too.
So remember as you sow, so shall you reap!! </span></div>
<div dir="ltr">

<br />
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri; font-size: large;">If you are reading this post then I am sure you are not new
to Social Media. <strong><em>Power of social media</em></strong> is immense and widespread. Not only it
has turned an introvert to extrovert but also has redefined human connect.
Today we don’t need a newspaper to share our story, we are self sufficient and
are proud owner of our own brand. Yes, being social today has new way of
personal image management. </span></div>
<span style="font-size: large;"></span><br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri; font-size: large;">When talking about our own brand, a resume is a close
relative. Resume ideally helps us to establish a perspective in the interviewer’s
mind even before our interaction starts. It has been a prevalent practice for
ages to make an effective and impactful resume in order to qualify for that
dream job. But now it’s time to accessories your two pager through social
resume.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri; font-size: large;">Social resume is nothing but all information related to you
- widely available online. So it’s a wide terms which covers lot under one
umbrella. Considering the social media usage and popularity most of the
recruiters have started using the same as a talent acquisition tool. As it goes
Internet has no delete button and it can help trace back all your social media activity,
hence here are couple of tips which you should focus on lest you miss out on your
golden goose.</span></div>
<ol start="1" style="margin-top: 0in;" type="1"><span style="font-size: large;">
</span>
<li class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt; mso-list: l0 level1 lfo1;"><span style="font-family: Calibri; font-size: large;">Mostly social networking
is a long term association or activity and unlike a job interview we can’t
hide our true feelings here. But it’s very important <em>not to leave any
digital footprints</em> which can be considered against you or can tarnish your
social personality.</span></li>
<span style="font-size: large;">
</span>
<li class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt; mso-list: l0 level1 lfo1;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;"><span style="font-size: large;"><i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;">‘It’s all in the Name’</i>. Having a profile which can help
recruiter relate to you instantly is a mandate or else no matter what you
do socially it can’t be considered you ‘social resume’ for sure.</span></span></li>
<span style="font-size: large;">
</span>
<li class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt; mso-list: l0 level1 lfo1;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;"><span style="font-size: large;"><em>Blogging has changed the
writer’s world</em>. Gone are the days when publishing an article took months
of follow up, but now spreading your thoughts is just a click away. And if
you write what a recruiter considers relevant and is close to your expertise,
then your dream job is just a call away.</span></span></li>
<span style="font-size: large;">
</span>
<li class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt; mso-list: l0 level1 lfo1;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;"><span style="font-size: large;"><i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;">‘A Man is known by the company he keeps’</i>. Your online network speaks
a lot about you, so make sure whom you are adding to your friend list.
Richer your network more valued is the profile.</span></span></li>
<span style="font-size: large;">
</span></ol>
<span style="font-size: large;"></span><br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri; font-size: large;">Social media itself is a wide subject and has both pros and
cons but using it for your own benefits it just in your hands. <i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;"><u>So for your next job hunt don’t forget SOCIAL</u></i>!!</span></div>

<br />
<div align="center" style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: 14pt;"><strong>“SALE
SALE everywhere but what I seek is RARE”<o:p></o:p></strong></span></div>
<br />
<br />
This echoes my thought while I was reading today's newspaper full of monsoon
sale offer.<b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;">60 % OFF </i></b>in font size and color too loud for anybody to hardly
miss. Until sometime back I too was an ardent follower but soon realized the
catch that<em> “Jo Dikhta Hai Who Bikta Nahin”.</em> So this actually took me back to my
mailbox where I had made job postings and received more irrelevant job
responses only to unsubscribe the same.<br />
<a href="http://www.google.co.in/imgres?imgurl=https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgCD6Nt5DkLocNlEa0iLrlOu4mrpWUkIUsobbiC5fgxwidh4syBQv3A5TYsQ8VGHA-QV2V_HOPd0_7OIFGvjOSdqojl5eMxM9bbuRbsKdvBYYClJnO7kep1Qzc8mrnCb13H08L0B8b-k_k/s320/jobdescription.jpg&imgrefurl=http://tppnotforprofit.blogspot.com/2010/12/writing-effective-job-descriptions-and.html&usg=__x9VI5-NSAp9A8AypWk-P7UwBP6U=&h=1425&w=1428&sz=712&hl=en&start=2&sig2=QDDnwgja3fbELuQXqf0tsg&zoom=1&tbnid=xHQwDFJ-Ho25iM:&tbnh=150&tbnw=150&ei=hCTsUbrWLYS3rAe5_YC4DA&itbs=1&sa=X&ved=0CC4QrQMwAQ" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img height="320" src="https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRwZwEBfjx_zHNOWCAUm6n9vzQxgmBBsM1RJiIGwJXm2I2wes9tmtB9KTVwWQ" width="320" /></a><br />
<o:p> </o:p><br />
<br />
Job posting is a great way to advertise about an opening so that it’s easier
to connect with right talent in the minimum possible time. Doesn’t this sound
like a great recipe for Talent Acquisition!! It almost was doing the job till
such time the seekers started rushing to apply to any job without reading the
specifications. Quite a fact is that all those telephonic interviews where I
asked job seekers about going through the job profile before applying for it,
responses were not close to convincing even. So a job portal has become a
market place where job seekers come and just click on what they feel is
relevant or could be relevant and sometimes leave it to recruiter to decide.
Why take pain when it is free!! Similar to picking up a discounted item and
later realizing that you never needed the same.<br />
<br />
<o:p> </o:p><br />
<br />
Now this is the point from where the challenge starts for all the three
parties: <em>Recruiter, job seeker and portal</em>. Yes, most of them promise to have
great algorithms controlling the relevancy factor but still controlling humans
is way beyond any technology. Recruiter who for a change is not happy with the
overwhelming not- so-relevant response and changing portal service has been not
much of a value add too, considering sample remains the same. So best done was
moving them to a folder where they don’t worry you much. However some serious
job seekers kept wondering what must have gone wrong when they actually matched
the requirement 100%. <br />
<br />
<o:p> </o:p><br />
<br />
But when ‘there is a will there is a way’. Mostly a follow up call to the HR
department does the job. However the point still remains how an effective tool
because of misuse or overuse has lost the entire purpose. Only if we read the
job description and self evaluate before applying most of can avoid cursing a
portal for being ineffective. Also please remember every time you click on a
job which doesn’t fit your profile you are only making the talent hunt even
harder for all three.<br />
<br />
<o:p> </o:p><br />
<br />
<em>It takes five mins to read an job description but is that asking for too
much when it’s about your next career move?</em><br />
<br />
<o:p> </o:p><br />
<br />
<o:p> </o:p></div>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em; margin-top: 0in;">
<img height="320" src="http://media5.picsearch.com/is?PfEcRKe2XrYWyLlrmCeszbEGZG_W7rsiu8ggVgiEOGc" width="232" /></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">Last night I was on my usual social networking site reading
interesting status messages when read somebody saying “HR professional, sounds
like an oxymoron”.</span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"><em>So are the HR departments incompetent?</em> </span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"><strong>Absolutely not!!</strong> I have personally met some very fine people
in the HR fraternity but probably such is <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>nature of the job which makes it very susceptible.
At any given time Human Resource is dealing with two poles, employee and
employer and come what may there is always an employee in the human resource
whose heart is inclined to one but actions have to aligned with the more
powerful entity. So this proves there is some human in human resource.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"></span> </div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">Now being in the industry for a while , sitting on the hot seat has never been easy. But I still have to find an organization where people love the HR department. It always makes me wonder that is the people functions really for the people <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>, by the people and of the people…Not sure!!</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">Mostly HR departments are cursed for salary payouts, delayed
appraisals and many such transactional activities which keeps them occupied enough
to get into other strategic or transformational aspects. However the buck doesn’t
stop here whenever organization effectiveness comes in picture HR is first to
be questioned. Though market trends lead to lot of internal changes but still
this one department must have done something wrong to not predict and take
corrective action at the right time.</span></div>
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"><em>Doesn’t this sound like a one sided story?</em></span><br />
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"><em>'Reminds me of a simple and hardworking boy who was trying to
be good to everybody but his returns were always otherwise.'</em></span></div>
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">But as soon as you turn the table reality will strike…Lets
recall the last employee engagement activity which you bunked and also missed
the realization of efforts put in to the arrange so many activities every
month.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">Blaming the HR is easiest when annual hikes are delayed but
only if the forms are filled up on time HR too would be entitled for the
revised salary.</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">Average hiring time must be showing in bold red but what
about expecting to onboard a Rock-star.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">Policies are mostly referred as HR weapons but aren’t they all
employee facilitation tool in line with organizational benefits.</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">Mostly till the time operations run smoothly HR effectiveness
is not measured but sadly weighted only at the time of mismatched expectations
which just make the HR department a perfect scapegoat.</span><br />
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">To sum it all , mistakes are part of learning and only when
they are taken positively will it contribute to growing further of an organization. So lets stop the blame game and complement each other to reach next level!!</span></div>
</div>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">It was usual day at work when I logged in my Linkedin
account to find a message from an old classmate. He was looking for a of job
change and wanted some advise around the same.I called him and discussed his
concerns trying to suggest the best possible route I could think of. Being in
Talent Acquisition for so many years now , I have done this of many friends and
for some it worked while others were smart enough to make it happen their way.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"></span> </div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt; text-align: center;">
<img height="273" id="il_fi" src="http://havingtime.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/07/job-hunt.jpg" style="padding-bottom: 8px; padding-right: 8px; padding-top: 8px;" width="308" /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 12pt 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">I generally encounter questions
regarding channels and turnaround time. My answer to this has always been ‘when
patience pays, so what’s the hurry?”Honestly on personal levels most of my job
changes were either through referrals or social media except of one case where
I had applied on a job portal. But this is again very specific to my industry
and might not work everywhere. However this has made me great advocate of <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">Social Media</b> which invariably is part
of my job hunting strategies these days. Moreover it a best way to cut down lot
of applicant traffic too.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">So to begin with make sure that two pager brief introduction
which is mostly referred as <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">‘Resume’ </b>or<b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"> </b>should be updated enough to speak for
your caliber and aptitude. It’s strange but I have come across many senior executives’
profiles who either have poorly written resumes or not at all. You might be
leading 100 odd people but trust me that job posting would not even consider
your application because the recruiter who might be filtering the profile
didn’t find the right set of key words in place. <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">Remember a job hunt is surviving the elimination and the first step is
very crucial. <o:p></o:p></b></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"><b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">Media comes next
after you are all set with that killer application</b>. Well, after all you
intend to kill other applications to reach the destination. Choice is yours if
you want to start with job portal and try your luck. Mostly for junior to mid
level and vanilla skills portals do the job well. Challenge is if you have been
working in a niche field or have moved to roles which are not advertised very
frequently and fewer in number.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">Sometimes connecting with <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">Head Hunters and Executive Search firms</b> can be a good idea too. They
have the specific industry understanding and would know the right opportunity
for you. Also the mutual benefit drives them to make sure that it happens. LinkedIn
has been a blessing in such scenarios. Not just you can find good jobs being
posted from direct corporate HR’s but even connecting with head hunting firms
has never been so easy. It’s a great market place when you are shopping for a
job!!</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">You know yourself the best, more that any portal or
consultant would do. <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">Self research on
the best possible opportunities by pursuing your target organizations </b>either
through internal employee referrals or direct applications might work as well.
However as already discussed it’s a long drawn process in many cases and for
some it just happens in record time. Job hunt is like cricket you might have to
wait like Tendulkar to win the world cup or can be lucky to crack it in the
first go itself.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">Last but not least, <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">when
looking for job you should be ready to get the call anytime of the day and
nobody will give you time to prepare for that first discussion</b>. Try not to
miss that and even if you do make sure you complete it later. Sometimes
unknowingly we let go the best only to realize it very late. Also remember not
to take a hasty decision for you never know what it would cost you later.</span><o:p><span style="font-family: Calibri;"> </span></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">Hope this helps you when next time you plan for a job change
and till then enjoy your current assignment for it’s the work you do today
which will fetch you job tomorrow. </span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<o:p><span style="font-family: Calibri;"> </span></o:p></div>

<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: "Garamond","serif"; font-size: 14pt; line-height: 115%;">Have you heard about <strong>Sun and Moon</strong> story?<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;"><span style="font-family: "Garamond","serif"; font-size: 14pt; line-height: 115%;">One
day Sun proudly told Moon, “Look I am so great, nobody can survive without me. You
too also reflect my light. I am HOT.”<o:p></o:p></span></i></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;"><span style="font-family: "Garamond","serif"; font-size: 14pt; line-height: 115%;">Moon
looks at him gently and replied, “Yes, indeed you are very hot and nobody dares
to come close to you. However unlike you I love to be surrounded by stars and
prefer being cool dude.”<o:p></o:p></span></i></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;"><span style="font-family: "Garamond","serif"; font-size: 14pt; line-height: 115%;">And Earth
just smiled.<o:p></o:p></span></i></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: "Garamond","serif"; font-size: 14pt; line-height: 115%;">In real, though being Hot is sometimes is a statement in
its own but this conversation is more to do with ones <strong>ATTITUDE</strong>. We mostly
imbibe from nature and human behavior has lot to do with the celestial
influence. <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Mostly while recruiting we do
study ones behavior competency and attitude is an important aspect in the same.
Some highly qualified resources just get rejected for not having the right
attitude. Yes, it’s <strong>THAT</strong> important!!<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><u><span style="font-family: "Garamond","serif"; font-size: 14pt; line-height: 115%;">So
what is an Attitude?<o:p></o:p></span></u></b></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: "Garamond","serif"; font-size: 14pt; line-height: 115%;"><em><strong>It’s a way of thinking, feeling and expressing ourselves
both mentally and physically</strong></em>. Well we all know that dictionary definition , but
do we have the right attitude is something to be pondered on.eg: in the above
story it’s difficult to judge who has the right attitude for both at the irreplaceable
.So if you are looking for an aggressive and highly competent who is just
unbeatable and is mostly an individual contributor , HOT is just the right guy.
But let’s talk about a people’s person, somebody who is patient ,cool, mature
and can empathize with others will surely vote for Moon. <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: "Garamond","serif"; font-size: 14pt; line-height: 115%;">Like any technical competency, every job has a requirement
of specific attitude and behavior. Only if we have the right combination, we
will be able to maintain a balance in organizational growth.eg: Let’s consider
our the mute spectator, Earth. Smart enough to know that it can’t survive
without either of two (sun and moon), so with an amazing gravitational force it
makes sure to keep them at the right distance in order to maintain a congenial
relationship and we all know whenever any of them come too close for comfort
the results are terrible.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: "Garamond","serif"; font-size: 14pt; line-height: 115%;">An organization has both <em>difficult and very difficult
people</em> (never underestimate an easy going person) but its only the right
attitude and behavior which will ultimately helps things fall in place. Just
like solar system it’s imperative to have all four (let’s not forget followers,
stars) in an organization to go on and on the milky way route </span><span style="font-family: Wingdings; font-size: 14pt; line-height: 115%; mso-ascii-font-family: Garamond; mso-char-type: symbol; mso-hansi-font-family: Garamond; mso-symbol-font-family: Wingdings;"><span style="mso-char-type: symbol; mso-symbol-font-family: Wingdings;">J</span></span><span style="font-family: "Garamond","serif"; font-size: 14pt; line-height: 115%;"><o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<span style="font-family: Calibri;">What does a CEO want? </span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">An OREO!!</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.google.co.in/imgres?imgurl=http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/2/21/Oreo.jpg&imgrefurl=http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Oreo.jpg&usg=__gJdw0fKf8I2DjE9OBOraL6ZXoGA=&h=600&w=1000&sz=69&hl=en&start=1&sig2=7mCa7OY9kJPNUfWeP4lnNg&zoom=1&tbnid=ZGHYMRRk99Fe5M:&tbnh=89&tbnw=149&ei=5qx6UcWJL4OTrgf74oAQ&itbs=1&sa=X&ved=0CCwQrQMwAA"><img height="191" src="https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRF5sfafCrioRPpzsOuRHHPlDNerb54F4sU3zHOeFK8Mc-WPgfFDBQVAKo" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">Read this to know why…</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">I recently went to a well known ice- cream parlor where my
son wanted an ice-cream with an OREO topping .First I didn’t realized the
reason why a simple cream biscuit would make a dessert add-on till I tasted and
loved it. Now I exactly knew why the cute little girl in the TV commercial
loves to dip it in milk and eat. But today when I saw OREO as coffee topping at
one of the prominent coffee shop brands was just amazed on <em>creative marketing
and product positioning</em>.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">Wow, so OREO is something more than just a cream biscuit. No
wonder I, my son and my mom we all love it and you thought cream biscuits are
for kids .I would not be surprised if tomorrow we have OREO kheer being served
at restaurants. Not a bad idea somebody should start it!!</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">OREO seems to be some <em>multifaceted cookie</em>...</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">Interestingly life at SME’s run in similar fashion. We have
highly passionate CEO’s who have started organist ions from scratch and many
times done all what it takes to run the show. Whether running for their first
deal or fixing up the balance sheet and not to mention even receiving the
customer complaints they have been hands on. Somebody so involved would not
bother about the job role but one <em>who can change hats and do multiple tasks is
the man/woman he is looking for</em>. An ideal fit would be an individual who understands
the value and sticks to it throughout ,can be a good substitute whenever need
arises and marketed well when business requires. Similar to our OREO which
just gels so well with all those mouth watering flavours and still is a cream
biscuit!!</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">Such employees eventually become integral part of the
organization and the core team. What drives them is not the role or the job but
that they living up the passion or value which they have created for themselves
and organizations. Interestingly there vision is concurrent to organisations' growth and such individuals are highly self driven and stand out ,just like our favorite cookie.These employees are not bothered about their performance
reviews and hikes but about whether they are taking the organization to height which
they dreamt with the CEO.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">Many times ideologies clash for not every employee is ready
to take that owernership and neither is every CEO letting them unleash their
true potential and then we just missed another employees’ company to roll out.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">Whatsoever it might be every cookie is not an OREO and to be
one you need to taste some!!</span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;"> </span></span></div>

<div align="center">
<a href="http://www.google.co.in/imgres?imgurl=http://www.holisticsearch.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2011/01/vacancies2.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.holisticsearch.co.uk/2011/01/24/search-recruitment-trends-for-2011/&usg=__VrTVoTeZZsNvehFn9WXhWuIVZpM=&h=266&w=430&sz=12&hl=en&start=13&zoom=1&tbnid=_F8yvFqpwt5XlM:&tbnh=78&tbnw=126&ei=v0p2UdeXEYXrrQejjYH4AQ&itbs=1&sa=X&ved=0CEQQrQMwDA"><img height="198" src="https://encrypted-tbn2.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcSwwpjSJRS-hOCerob3BfhLaRNcL7xO-9a1HHsJz9WOtAJpZOcd0UgTIA" width="320" /></a></div>
<div align="center">
</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; font-size: 10pt; line-height: 115%;">Recruitment might look simple to many but in real it’s
never been a cake walk and the requirement urgency with talent deficiency makes
it worse. This overall make the job of recruiter tough who anyways is dependent
on somebody else’s talent and mind set. Over a decade as the face of HR has
changed from a support function to a more business oriented one, so has the job
changed on various dimensions. Observed below are certain trends in the hiring
which are worth mentioning. </span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; font-size: 10pt; line-height: 115%;">Growing economy has made hiring healthier and thus
increased employment avenues. The continuous external competition only made sure
that no stones were left unturned while head hunting for those demanding skill
sets. The Hiring managers utilize all possible tool and techniques to attract
and recruit talent. Retaining although is a different challenge altogether. Policies
and procedures too have been evolved and made more employee centric thus
engaging the employee.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; font-size: 10pt; line-height: 115%;">Gradually Talent Acquisition has turned into subject
matter expertise with a focus on recruitment methodology , tools and
techniques. Organizations have dedicated recruitment teams to handle the mass
hiring process on continuous basis. In past recruitment was more of an entry
point to HR function leading to generalist but with due course it has evolved
both in terms of maturity and scope. Many organizations are now hiring
certified recruiters for the job, skilled enough to understand the dynamics of
the profile.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; font-size: 10pt; line-height: 115%;">Difference in projected hiring numbers and actual hiring
number has compelled the hiring experts to maintain a passive talent pipeline
through various sources. Ongoing recruitment drives for vanilla skills and
maintaining a talent pool has become part of the strategy. Organizations have
started acquiring talent hence in a way treating it as an important
intellectual asset which further contributes in the growth.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; font-size: 10pt; line-height: 115%;">And the buck didn’t stop here even the employees were
encouraged and incentivized through lucrative employee referral schemes. For
what can be better than age old tried and tested ‘word of the mouth’ technique.
This not only helped hiring teams and motivated employees but also contributed towards
employer branding!!!</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; font-size: 10pt; line-height: 115%;">With time, various metrics evolved around the specialized
function like cost per hire, TAT, recruitment ratios etc which further defined
the analytics of the subject.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; font-size: 10pt; line-height: 115%;">Social media too has contributed towards this new avatar.
Networking platforms like facebook, LinkedIn and other such forums and blogs
have provided new avenues for finding the right fit and thus decreasing the
dependency on job portals. In fact they are more fondly referred as ‘talent
network’ and is an ideal place to exchange views and ideas too.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; font-size: 10pt; line-height: 115%;">Technology has increases the accessibility for both
candidates and recruiters.eg: a smart phone as much allows a candidate to apply
a job in a much shorter span it also helps a recruiter to connect faster. Now a
prospective candidate might really be just a click away.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; font-size: 10pt; line-height: 115%;">Recruitment is ever changing and every day brings new
trends so it’s important not to miss the right bus for you never know in which
one the right candidate is travelling!! <o:p></o:p></span></div>

<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
West had it long back and now Indian workplaces too are opening
itself to the concept of Virtual Office. Though still in a primitive stage, but
changing socio – economic factors will soon make Indian Industries adapt it as
an extension of the mother office.<o:p> </o:p></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
This age being 3G age, its difficult to stay away from smart
phones, PDA and other such savvy gadgets. Such being the environment, soon
connectivity will not have any boundaries rather physical presence will become
a limitation. Infact on the other hand organizations will have to strengthen
there IT infrastructure in order to maintain such devices without compromising
on security. A great cost saving strategy, virtual offices will provide great
flexibility and independence to both employer and employee, hence a win-win.<o:p> </o:p></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
As a matter of fact, considering the ballooning pollution
levels and carbon emissions, virtual working will lessen traveling in turn
decreasing peak time traffics and helping us go green. Organizations too will
have respite from keeping tracks on the timing and can focus on other employee
motivating policies. Moreover, this can be a very handy tool in attracting
female talent and therefore becoming a fair employer. <o:p> </o:p></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
Last but not least, this involves a great amount of honesty
and integrity from the employee front and the Organizations have to be more
creative and well equipped in maintaining such diversity. To cut it short,
change is inevitable, sooner organizations adapt it better it is for all.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
